What is Invisalign®? Invisalign is a cosmetic dentistry alignment system which uses clear plastic trays to move teeth to a desired position and angle. It is a popular alternative to metal braces, particularly for adults and professionals. Invisalign can correct minor and moderate misalignment and if your teeth are too severely crowded you might need to see an orthodontist.

What are the benefits of Invisalign over traditional braces?

Invisalign® offers comfort and convenience for adult lifestyles: There are no metal brackets or wires

The clear trays are virtually invisible Invisalign trays can be removed for special occasions

Many people live with a crooked smile for years because of the notorious discomfort and unattractiveness of wires and brackets. Even the brackets of “clear” braces are visible and likely to catch food, becoming discolored and visible. Invisalign allows you to straighten your teeth without the difficulties of traditional braces.

How long does Invisalign take to straighten my teeth?

The length of time required depends on the extent of your misalignment. Some Invisalign treatments need only a few months. The average time is about nine months. Fort Lauderdale Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Sarris can give you an estimate when you talk with him about having Invisalign.

How much does Invisalign cost? The cost of Invisalign varies with the number of trays and amount of time required to treat the misalignment. With more trays and more time, it is likely that the cost will increase. However, Dr. Sarris offers affordability options to help with the cost.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

To determine whether or not you are a candidate for Invisalign, you must meet with a trained Invisalign provider such as Dr. Sarris. He will give you a thorough dental examination and determine whether Invisalign would be your best option. If you have any gum disease, that would need to be addressed first. Sometimes the tooth misalignment is too severe for Invisalign and in that case, Dr. Sarris would refer you to an excellent orthodontist.

Is there a quicker alternative to Invisalign? Individuals who feel that any amount of time is too long to wait to have the smile of their dreams may be able to choose porcelain veneers instead of Invisalign. The correction is immediate, although the solution is purely cosmetic, and does not actually realign your teeth. It is appropriate for relatively mild misalignment.
