Sleep Apnea and Snoring Treatment

Sleep Apnea Patient in West Palm Beach

Do you suffer at night because you snore or because your sleeping partner snores? You may not know that one third of the population snores, some more severely than others. If you have been struggling to sleep at night because of snoring, your dentist may be able to help you with a snoring treatment.

If you are a snorer, your airway becomes partially blocked by tissue collapsing into it when you relax. When air passes through, it vibrates the soft tissue around it and causes the snoring sounds.

Sleep Dentist, Dr. John Sarris offers snore relief through Silent Nite® appliances, a device that you wear at night. The Silent Nite® appliance gently holds the lower jaw forward, opening the airway and allowing you to sleep without snoring. It works in over 80 percent of individuals who use it.

If you suffer from sleep apnea, a Silent Nite® snoring treatment may not be sufficient to clear your airway and Dr. Sarris will make recommendations for your further treatment.

Customizing Your Silent Nite®

Dr. Sarris will take an impression of your teeth and gums. The Silent Nite appliance will be custom-made to fit over them exactly so that no discomfort will disturb your sleep.

The appliance is made of soft silicon. People who wake themselves up at night by snoring too loudly have found that the Silent Nite® appliance allows them to sleep throughout the night undisturbed.

Silent Nite® use has been helping snorers and their loved ones sleep better than they have for years. A good night’s sleep makes for a more productive and enjoyable day, and this improves one’s overall quality of life.

It is possible that your snoring results from a misaligned bite – Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ or TMD). If so, Dr. Sarris will detect that and discuss the options with you for treating it. You may have other annoying or painful symptoms such as TMJ headaches that also arise from a misaligned bite or jaw joint. Most people do not realize that TMJ symptoms have a dental cause.
